REMOVE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, STUDENT-IDs, ADDRESSES, BIRTH DATE, RACE, ETHNICITY, GENDER, AND OTHER PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU SUBMIT THEM.

1. IMPORTANT: Make your application stand out! Refrain from copy/pasting the same statement/essay throughout the application.
2. Statement of Purpose: Your essay should reflect why you would be an ideal candidate for SLSTP. This is your story. Include what you hope to bring to the program, and gain from participating in the program.
3. Statement for Project Choice(s): Customize each project choice statement to the project you are interested in applying to, providing details/specifics on how you/your experiences qualify you for working on this specific project. Explain why you are a good fit for this position, and remember to call out relevant skills and coursework.
4. Letters of Reference: You are responsible for asking and following up with your references. Upon your request, SLSTPapp.com will generate an initial automated reference request to those references you have listed in the application.

Creating an Account

From the homepage, click the New User button.

1. Enter your name
2. Enter your e-mail address
3. Enter a password
4. Click Submit. Your account has been created. You can now login and complete the application.

Before You Begin

Familiarize yourself with the entire application system and the proposed mentor projects before you begin.

Navigation

On the left side of the screen, there is a list of application sections. The various program selection committees will only consider applications in which all sections are complete. Make sure you save (click "Save") before going to a different section.

Text-Box Entries

For text-box entries, you may key-in text or cut and paste from a word processor. If you are cutting and pasting, make sure that your entry reads correctly after you click the "Save" button. Many word processors support non-standard characters (such as bullets and smart quotes) that do not translate into ASCII text. While our system will catch most of these, you should always double check your results.

Save Often!

After completing a section, select the "Save" button to save the data on that page.

Final Submission

You are free to edit, submit, and retract your application up until the due date and time. At that time, your application will be automatically submitted, complete or not, and your account will be locked.

1. Program Managers will review and discuss with mentors the pre-screened candidates.
2. Mentors will review the candidates applications. Mentors may contact you to conduct an initial candidate interview.
3. A program manager will contact the mentor-selected candidates for interview and offer.
4. All applicants will be made aware once the positions have been closed and filled.
